How We Review Products
This page explains exactly how we research the products we write about, so you can judge how much weight to give our recommendations.
Research, not lab testing
We do not currently operate a testing facility. Unless an article explicitly says a product was physically tested, our coverage is based on research. Every product we mention falls into one of these groups, and we say which:
- Physically tested — we used the product ourselves. We will state this clearly and describe what we did.
- Researched from manufacturer documentation — specifications, manuals and installation guides checked against the manufacturer’s own product page.
- Compared using published reviews — where we reference other publications’ findings, we name and link the source.
- Not independently verified — information we could not confirm is marked “Unverified” rather than guessed.
What we look at
- Fit and compatibility — bowl shape (round or elongated), dimensions, and any toilet models the maker excludes.
- Installation requirements — water connection, power (outlet type and cord length) and tank clearance.
- Comfort features — heated seat, water heating method (tank or tankless), dryer, soft-close lid.
- Hygiene features — nozzle design and self-cleaning, deodorizer, ease of cleaning.
- Controls — side panel, remote, user presets, app or voice control.
- Warranty and support — warranty length as stated by the manufacturer.
What we don’t do
- We do not publish star ratings, scores or customer reviews we have not verified.
- We do not show prices, because they change frequently. Check the current price on the retailer’s listing.
- We do not present manufacturer claims as our own test results.
Keeping information current
Each comparison notes when its specifications were last checked. Models are updated or discontinued regularly, so always confirm details on the listing before you buy. If you spot something out of date, please let us know.
