The Kohler Elliston Complete Solution is a two-piece, elongated, 1.28 gpf toilet sold as a kit: bowl, tank, Quiet-Close seat, wax ring and mounting hardware in one purchase. It pairs Kohler’s AquaPiston canister with Revolution 360 swirl flushing and comes in a Comfort Height version (K-33202) and a tall version (K-43202). For a homeowner who wants a straightforward, water-saving replacement toilet without shopping for parts separately, it covers the essentials.

This review is based on Kohler’s spec sheets, product pages and warranty terms. We have not physically tested the Elliston; see our methodology for how we research.

Status as of November 2026: Kohler’s site still lists both Elliston Complete Solution models, and their spec sheets were revised in October 2026. Kohler’s online store showed the K-33202 out of stock when we checked and pointed shoppers to local stores, so availability may vary even though the model has not been dropped.

What you get in the box

“The Complete Solution” is Kohler’s name for toilets that ship with everything needed for a typical install. Kohler lists the bowl, tank, seat, wax ring and hardware for the Elliston. Its product page describes the included seat as Quiet-Close, which lowers gently instead of slamming. The water supply line is sold separately.

That matters more than it sounds. With a standard toilet you buy the china, then a seat, then a wax ring and bolts, and it is easy to end up with a seat that doesn’t match the bowl shape. A kit removes that guesswork.

Flushing system

Like several current Kohler toilets, the Elliston uses two technologies together:

  • AquaPiston canister. Replaces the traditional rubber flapper. Kohler says it optimizes the flow out of the tank, using gravity to increase flush power, and that the canister has 90 percent less exposed seal material than a 3-inch flapper, which it says helps it resist wear and leaks.
  • Revolution 360. Kohler’s swirling flush, which it says helps keep the bowl clean longer.

Both Elliston models flush at 1.28 gpf and list EPA WaterSense certification. EPA’s WaterSense label requires no more than 1.28 gpf, which the agency describes as 20 percent less than the 1.6 gpf federal standard.

One detail to note: the K-33202 spec sheet lists the trapway as 2-1/8 in. fully glazed in its features, but 2 in. in its technical table. The tall K-43202 lists 2-1/8 in. in both places. If trapway size matters to you, ask Kohler to confirm.

Design and cleaning

The Elliston has an exposed trapway, meaning the curve of the drain path is visible on the side of the base. That’s the traditional look, and it gives you more room to reach the floor bolts during installation. It also means more contours to wipe around than a skirted toilet.

Kohler adds a sanitary guard where the bowl and tank meet, which it says makes that joint easier to clean. Kohler also says the Elliston coordinates with other products in its Elliston collection, so you can match a sink or accessories.

The K-33202 spec sheet lists two colors: White and Biscuit. The tall K-43202 lists White only.

Height: Comfort Height or tall

The K-33202 uses Kohler’s Comfort Height bowl, which Kohler describes as chair-height seating that makes sitting down and standing up easier for most adults. Kohler’s toilet buying guide puts chair-height toilets at roughly 17 in. or more from the floor to the top of the seat.

The K-43202 is Kohler’s tall version. According to Kohler, it puts the seat 2-1/2 in. higher than Comfort Height. That can suit tall people and some people with knee or hip trouble, but very tall seats can leave shorter users’ feet dangling. If a medical condition is behind the choice, ask your doctor or an occupational therapist. Our chair height vs standard height guide walks through the trade-offs.

Installation

Kohler lists a standard 12 in. rough-in and a three-bolt quick-connect installation for the K-33202. Measure from the finished wall to the center of the closet bolts to confirm before you buy.

Setting a two-piece toilet is a common DIY project, but call a licensed plumber if the flange is cracked, the subfloor is soft or you aren’t comfortable with the water shutoff. Kohler’s spec sheet also notes ADA compliance applies only when the toilet is installed to those specific requirements.

Bidet seat compatibility

Kohler’s bidet seat compatibility guide lists the Elliston K-33202 as compatible with its bidet seats. If you plan to add a bidet seat from another brand, confirm it fits elongated bowls and plan for a GFCI-protected outlet near the toilet, installed by a licensed electrician if you don’t have one. Our best bidet toilet seats roundup covers fit and power needs.

Warranty

Kohler’s toilet warranty for residential installs lists a lifetime limited warranty on vitreous china, ten years on mechanical components for most series, and one year on seats. The Elliston is not among the series Kohler lists with a shorter five-year mechanical term. Check the full warranty document on Kohler’s site, since exclusions apply.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Kit includes bowl, tank, Quiet-Close seat, wax ring and hardware
  • 1.28 gpf and WaterSense certified
  • AquaPiston canister in place of a flapper
  • Comfort Height and tall versions
  • White and Biscuit offered on the K-33202
  • Listed in Kohler's bidet seat compatibility guide

Things to consider

  • Exposed trapway takes more effort to clean than a skirted base
  • 12 in. rough-in only per Kohler's specs
  • Spec sheet gives two different trapway sizes for the K-33202
  • Kohler's own store showed it out of stock
  • Supply line sold separately

Who it’s for

  • Homeowners replacing an older toilet who want a single, complete purchase.
  • Water-conscious households that want WaterSense certification.
  • Bathrooms with a traditional style, where an exposed trapway looks right.
  • Taller users who may prefer the K-43202’s extra height.

It’s less suited to anyone who prioritizes easy cleaning around the base, or bathrooms with a non-standard rough-in.

What to check before you buy

  1. Confirm the model: K-33202 (Comfort Height) or K-43202 (tall).
  2. Measure your rough-in; Kohler lists 12 in.
  3. Pick the color; Biscuit is listed only for the K-33202.
  4. Buy a supply line, since one is not included.
  5. Check stock at several retailers and Kohler’s store locator, since availability changes.
