The TOTO WASHLET S500e (model SW3046, Contemporary design) is a mid-to-upper-tier bidet seat that combines instant water heating with EWATER+, TOTO’s treated-water feature that it says keeps the wand and bowl hygienic. It also has PREMIST, a five-setting dryer, a heated seat and a slim remote with two user memories. As of November 2026, TOTO’s product page still lists the S500e Contemporary under SKU SW3046, but with a “limited inventory” notice and no retailers listed, which suggests it is nearing the end of its run.

This review is based on TOTO’s spec sheet and product page; we have not physically tested the seat (see our methodology). Below we cover the S500e’s features, how SW3046 differs from similar model numbers, and what to buy if it is out of stock.

Is the TOTO S500e still available?

TOTO still has a product page for it, but supply is limited. The page for the WASHLET S500e Contemporary Elongated with EWATER+ lists SKU SW3046 with a “limited inventory” banner and no authorized U.S. or Canadian retailers when we checked in November 2026. The model is also missing from the featured seats on TOTO’s main WASHLET page, which now highlights the S7A, S7, S5 and others.

Watch the model suffix

  • SW3046 is the standard S500e with the Contemporary lid design, for ordinary toilets.
  • SW3044 is the same seat with the Classic lid design.
  • SW3046T40 and SW3046AT40 are WASHLET+ versions with a concealed supply connection. TOTO says they fit only WASHLET+ toilets, and the AT40 adds Auto Flush compatibility.

TOTO’s FAQ notes that a standard WASHLET can typically go on older or discontinued TOTO toilets, but a WASHLET+ model cannot. If you have an ordinary toilet, make sure the listing says SW3046 or SW3044 without the T40 suffix.

Key features, according to TOTO

Washing

The spec sheet describes a “gentle aerated, warm water, dual action spray” with oscillating and pulsating features, and TOTO’s product page lists five spray settings. Spray types include rear, rear soft, front and wide front, with adjustable water temperature (about 86 to 104°F) and volume.

EWATER+ and PREMIST

EWATER+ is TOTO’s system for treating water and using it to clean the wand and bowl automatically, and the S500e’s remote can also trigger wand cleaning on demand. PREMIST mists the bowl with water before each use. For a deeper look at how these systems work, read how self-cleaning bidets work.

Instant water heating

Like other mid- and upper-tier WASHLETs, the S500e heats water as it flows, so warm water doesn’t run out partway through a wash. The trade-off is a higher power rating: 1288W rated and 1444W maximum, according to the spec sheet.

Comfort and control

  • Heated seat with temperature control, about 82 to 97°F.
  • Warm-air dryer with five temperature settings.
  • Automatic air deodorizer.
  • Slim wireless remote with an illuminated touch pad, two saved user settings and a magnetic wall-mounted cradle.
  • Docking station that TOTO says makes cleaning and installation easier.

TOTO doesn’t list an automatic opening lid for the S500e.

How the S500e fits TOTO’s lineup

Within TOTO’s range, the S500e sits above the K300. Compared with the K300, TOTO’s spec sheets show that it adds EWATER+ for the bowl as well as the wand, pulsating spray, five dryer settings instead of three, and a touch-pad remote with a wall cradle. Compared with the current S7A, it lacks an automatic lid and has two user memories rather than four. TOTO’s S500e instruction manual also covers the S550e, a related model.

Feature K300 (SW3036) S500e (SW3046) S7A (SW4736)
Water heating Instant Instant Instant
EWATER+ No (added on SW3036R wand) Wand and bowl Wand and bowl
Dryer settings 3 5 5
User memories 2 2 4
Automatic lid No No Yes
Status on TOTO’s site Limited inventory Limited inventory Current

That positioning makes the S500e appealing to people who want TOTO’s cleaning technology without paying for an automatic lid. With stock now limited, though, the S7A is the closer current match for most buyers.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Instant water heating for continuous warm water
  • EWATER+ for the wand and bowl plus PREMIST
  • Oscillating and pulsating spray with 5 spray settings
  • 5-setting dryer and 2-user remote with wall cradle
  • Choice of Contemporary or Classic lid styles

Things to consider

  • TOTO lists it as limited inventory with no retailers shown
  • Elongated bowls only
  • TOTO warns it may not fit certain bowl designs
  • 1-year limited warranty
  • No automatic lid

Who it’s for

  • Shoppers who want TOTO’s hygiene features (EWATER+ and PREMIST) and instant warm water without paying for an automatic lid.
  • Households that share a seat. Two saved user settings let two people keep their preferred temperature and pressure.
  • Owners of elongated TOTO or other toilets who have confirmed fit.

It is not for round bowls, and its limited availability makes it a harder buy than a current model.

What to check before you buy

  1. Exact model number. Choose SW3046 (Contemporary) or SW3044 (Classic) for a standard toilet. Avoid T40 versions unless you have a WASHLET+ toilet.
  2. Bowl fit. TOTO warns the S500e may not fit certain toilet bowl designs and asks buyers to include the toilet’s model number (found under the tank lid) with their order. Confirm your bowl shape with our measuring guide.
  3. Power. The cord is 3.94 ft long. TOTO highly recommends a surge protector. If you don’t have an outlet near the toilet, hire a licensed electrician to add a GFCI-protected one.
  4. Water. TOTO lists supply pressure of 7.25 PSI (dynamic) to 108.75 PSI (static) and says to use potable water only.
  5. Seller and warranty. Make sure the unit is new and covered by TOTO’s one-year limited warranty.

Our installation guide covers the general steps.

Current alternatives

The natural replacement is TOTO’s WASHLET S7A, which is current on TOTO’s site and adds an automatic opening and closing lid, a five-setting dryer, EWATER+ for the wand and bowl, and a remote with four user memories. Like the S500e, it fits elongated bowls only. TOTO’s S5 (SW3446) is another tankless seat with EWATER+ and PREMIST, though TOTO also marks it limited inventory. If you have a round bowl, the Brondell Swash 1400 is a tankless option offered in both shapes.
