The Kohler Memoirs Stately K-3819 is a two-piece, elongated, Comfort Height toilet with a 1.6 gallon-per-flush AquaPiston gravity flush. It is the “Stately” member of Kohler’s Memoirs collection, with crisp, straight architectural lines and a squared-off look rather than the rounded molding of the Memoirs Classic. It’s a style-first toilet for traditional and transitional bathrooms.

Status as of November 2026: Kohler’s site still has a K-3819 product page and a spec sheet revised in October 2026, and Kohler still runs a Memoirs Stately toilet collection page. However, Kohler’s Studio Kohler design site labels the K-3819 as discontinued. We consider its status unclear. Kohler’s 1.28 gpf Memoirs Stately toilets have current spec sheets and are covered below as alternatives.

Design: the Stately look
Kohler describes the Memoirs Stately design as having clean, crisp lines with straight, architectural detailing. Compared with the Memoirs Classic, which has rounded, layered detail, the Stately reads as more tailored and works in both traditional and transitional rooms.
Under the styling, the K-3819 pairs the K-4380 elongated bowl with the K-4642 1.6 gpf tank. The Memoirs Classic K-3818 uses the same bowl with a different tank (K-4641), so the two toilets differ mainly in tank design and overall look. The spec sheet lists White as the color, a left-hand polished chrome trip lever, and an exposed trapway.

In practice, the choice comes down to which style suits your bathroom. Functionally, the two are nearly identical: same bowl, same flush valve, same water use and same installation.
Flushing and water use
The K-3819 uses Kohler’s AquaPiston canister flush valve rather than a traditional flapper. Kohler says the canister optimizes the flow out of the tank using gravity, needs less force to operate than a 3-inch flapper, and has 90 percent less exposed seal material, which it says resists wear, shrinkage and swelling. The trapway is 2-1/8 in. and fully glazed, according to Kohler.
At 1.6 gpf, it sits at the federal maximum. The spec sheet doesn’t list EPA WaterSense, which requires 1.28 gpf or less; EPA says that is 20 percent less water than the 1.6 gpf standard. If your city offers toilet rebates, they usually require a WaterSense model, so check first.
Height and comfort
The Comfort Height bowl is Kohler’s chair-height design, which Kohler says makes sitting down and standing up easier for most adults. Kohler’s buying guide describes chair-height toilets as about 17 in. or more from the floor to the top of the seat.
The elongated bowl adds front-to-back room for comfort, but uses more floor space than a round bowl. In a small bathroom, measure the clearance in front of the bowl before you order.
Installation
Kohler lists a standard 12 in. rough-in and a three-bolt quick-connect installation. The seat and supply line are sold separately. The bowl has standard 5-1/2 in. seat mounting holes, so most elongated seats fit.
Many homeowners can set a two-piece toilet themselves, but bring in a licensed plumber if the flange or subfloor is damaged, or if you’re unsure about the water shutoff. Kohler’s spec sheet also notes that ADA compliance depends on the toilet being installed to those specific requirements.
Warranty
For residential installs, Kohler’s toilet warranty lists a lifetime limited warranty on vitreous china, ten years on mechanical components for most series and one year on seats. Memoirs isn’t among the series Kohler lists with a shorter five-year mechanical term. Exclusions apply, so read the full terms on Kohler’s site.
